Oahu’s east side gem… Kailua is one of the island’s most popular towns. With its turquoise waters, sandy beaches, panoramic hikes, and a plethora of eatery options, it’s no surprise that locals, transplants, and military families alike continually keep Kailua at the top of their neighborhood list. Just a direct drive from Honolulu through the Ko’olau mountain range will have you in Kailua in about 25 minutes. At the heart of Kailua town, you’ll find anything from 5 star restaurants to fitness centers, boutique smoothie shops, and car dealerships. Head to the coast and relax at the beach, or hike Lanikai Pillbox trail where you’ll be rewarded with one of the most picturesque views you can imagine. This amazing town comes at a price though, as Kailua ranks among the most expensive neighborhoods in the state year after year. Don’t get too discouraged though, as new developments, condos, and single family homes can still be found at great values… and it’s hard to put a price on the best coastline in the world!
